Omny

API keys

Where to get a key for each provider, and how Omny stores it.

To use a cloud model you need a key from its provider. A key says who pays for the model: you pay the provider for what you use. That is separate from the Omny license, which pays for Omny itself.

Add a key

Open Settings, then Add an AI model, pick the provider and paste the key. Omny tests it with a real request before saving, so a wrong key is never stored. You can optionally name the model to use; otherwise the provider's default is used.

Providers

ProviderNotes
GeminiHas a free tier with daily limits. The quickest way to start: get a key.
ClaudePaid per use.
OpenAI, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Groq, Together, OpenRouterPaid per use, or with free credits at some of them.
OllamaLocal, free. See local models.

Where the key is stored

Keys are stored in the database on your own computer. Omny never sends them anywhere except to the provider they belong to, and never shows a saved key again. You can replace or remove a key in Settings.

Costs

Under each reply you can see the tokens used and, for Claude and for any model whose price you enter in Settings, the cost. Settings also has a daily budget that warns you when you go over it.

Free keys have limits

A free Gemini key allows only a few requests per minute, and the agent makes one request at every step. Omny waits and retries, but a long task can be slow. A paid key, or a local model, avoids this.
