Omny

Modes

Chat, Plan, Manual and Auto, and what the agent may do in each.

The button next to Send sets how much freedom the agent has. It works for any model, and you can change it at any time. Modes that use files need a folder linked to the project.

ModeWhat it does
ChatOnly talks. It cannot read or change your files.
PlanReads your project, searches and runs commands that only read, then proposes a plan. It changes nothing.
ManualEvery file change and every command that changes something is a proposal you approve.
AutoChanges apply directly, each one backed up and undoable. Dangerous commands still ask first.

Proposals

In Manual mode the agent can propose changes to several files in one reply. Each proposal shows a diff. You can apply or reject each one, or Apply all. Nothing is on disk until you apply it.

Undo

Every file the agent writes keeps a backup and a history. Under each reply that changed files you can undo all of that reply's changes at once.

What always asks first

Commands that delete things or throw away work (deleting files, discarding Git changes, forced pushes and similar) are always a proposal, even in Auto mode. This is decided by the app, not by the model, so it does not depend on which model you use.

Checks after a change

After the agent writes a file, Omny checks its syntax (Go, JSON, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Python). You can also set a command for your project (for example the tests), and the agent can run it to verify its work. The agent should tell you exactly what was checked: a correct syntax is not the same as tested.

Running servers

A command that never ends on its own, such as a dev server, moves to the background instead of blocking the chat. You can watch and stop it from the Processes tab of the bottom panel.
