OmnyInstall
Install Omny and send your first message.
1. Install the app
Download OmnySetup.exe from the download page and run it. It installs for your user, with no administrator rights, and adds Omny to the Start menu.
Windows may warn you
The installer is not signed with a paid certificate yet. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway.
2. First start
Open Omny from the Start menu. Your 14-day free trial starts now, with everything included and no card; pricing is on the site. On the first start it prepares a local database by itself (a one-time download of about 325 MB) and then asks you to add one AI key.
Add a model
Pick the quickest option for you:
- a free Gemini key, or
- any other provider you have a key for, or
- a local model, which needs no key at all.
Link a folder
A project is a place for conversations. To let the agent work on your code, link a folder to it: Projects, then choose a folder (or New project and let Omny create one).
Pick a mode and ask
Next to the send button, pick a mode. Manual is a good start: you see and approve every change.
The editor extension (optional)
Install the extension from the Extensions panel (search "Omny"), or by hand from the .vsix file: Extensions, then the ··· menu, then Install from VSIX. The extension is the app's panel inside the editor, so the app has to be installed.
Updates
Omny checks for a newer version by itself and shows a bar when there is one. One click installs it. You can turn the check off in Settings.
